Position Title: Executive Director of Gaming Commission Status: Full Time
Job Summary: The Executive Director of the Shawnee Tribe Gaming Commission is responsible for the day-to-day monitoring of gaming activities, including implementation and enforcement of the rules and regulations promulgated by the Shawnee Tribe Gaming Commission, the National Indian Gaming Commission and the State of Oklahoma. The Executive Director is responsible for maintenance of all files and records pertaining to the duties of this position. The Executive Director is also required to supervise Gaming Commission staff. This position reports directly to the Shawnee Tribe Gaming Commission Board. Minimum age requirement: 25 years of age.
SKILLS REQUIRED:
◆ Related work experience and/or higher education (college level) beneficial.
◆ Previous experience and skills desired.
◆ Must have excellent verbal and written communication skills for contact with general public, employees, governmental and business associates.
◆ Organizational and record-keeping skills are necessary for accurate maintenance of files, correspondence and follow-up.
◆ Proficiency with computers and programs such as Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and Internet.
◆ Knowledge of general accounting principles.
◆ Ability to supervise employees.
◆ Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with management, staff, co-workers and general public.
◆ Have pleasant personality and be team and customer-service oriented; enjoy working with and assisting people.
◆ Reliable transportation required with current liability insurance, as well as valid driver’s license.
ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Duties may include, but are not limited to the following:
◆ Confirm management is carrying out its responsibilities as provided by the Shawnee Tribe Gaming Ordinance.
◆ Communicate with the National Indian Gaming Commission (NIGC) and State of Oklahoma as necessary and appropriate; ensure compliance with rules and regulations.
◆ Process and maintain records of licensee applications and background investigations.
◆ Review all records, documents and other pertinent information for the enforcement of any provisions of the Gaming Ordinance.
◆ Provide recommendations to the Shawnee Tribe Gaming Commission Board as to imposing sanctions on any person subject to the jurisdiction of the Gaming Ordinance.
◆ Assist the Shawnee Tribe Gaming Commission Board in fulfilling its responsibilities under the Gaming Ordinance.
◆ Maintain appropriate files and records.
◆ Know gaming laws and amendments and stay current on changes.
◆ Perform any other duties as assigned.
