A Content Editor ensures that news, business, features and sports stories are accurate, fair and grammatically correct when they are sent to the web and Design Desk. He or she assists in planning the daily and weekend newspapers. The editor has strong news judgment, is familiar with the news market and has a command of local, national and international news events. Responsibilities

  • Reports and edits news coverage and longform stories quickly for non-daily publications in Minnesota
  • Edit news coverage and long-form stories quickly
  • Write accurate, powerful, enticing headlines
  • Stay up to date on trending stories in the U.S. and abroad
  • Collaborate with other teams to produce best daily report
  • Operate in all newsroom content management systems
  • Proofread when needed
  • Write short stories as needed
  • Enforce the AP style guide and provide feedback
  • Add media (videos, photos, Tweets, Vines, GIFs) to posts to enhance stories

Required Education & Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred; or equivalent work experience in news business.
  • Experience on a copy desk
  • Experience in a competitive news market
  • Proficient computer skills
