First Meeting since Trump Signed Bill Granting Federal Recognition to Six Virginia Tribes

WASHINGTON – U.S. Secretary of the Interior Ryan Zinke will host an event celebrating Virginia’s seven federally-recognized tribes on October 3, 2018 from 11:00 A.M. to 2 P.M. Secretary Zinke will be joined by Congressman Robert Wittman, representatives from the two U.S. Senators of Virginia, representative of the Governor’s Office and the seven tribal leaders from Chickahominy Indian Tribe, Chickahominy Indian Tribe Eastern Division, Monacan Indian Nation, Nansemond Indian Tribe, Pamunkey Indian Tribe Rappahannock Tribe, Inc., and the Upper Mattaponi Tribe.

The invitation-only event is open to the press. A media tent will be available on-site for check-in prior to the start of the event.
