Using the baseline figures provided by researchers who determined that cats in America kill upwards of 3.7 billion birds, we determined that Seattle’s roughly 328,000 feral and domestic cats kill between 3.8 million and 8.1 million birds (all numbers are wild estimations, but then so were theirs). One of the biggest stories of the day has been a study declaring that cats in America kill between 1.4 billion and 3.7 billion birds and between 6.9 billion and 20.7 billion small mammals, such as meadow voles and chipmunks.
