“Twitter.com” across Native America
Hello Reader:
It might take Native people a little time, but they could easily be taking greater advantage of Twitter to share online messages about what’s happening in their communities. It’s easy and can be done from a cell phone. Even though many tribal community members don’t have adequate Internet service, many do have cell phones. Everyone has a cell phone, so it seems.
So, I am encouraging more American Indians to sign on to Twitter and share news in your community as a way to keep us all connected. Read this Wikipedia entry to learn more about Twitter. Did you know the site has about 55 million monthly visits from users? If you have a message to share, this is the place to do it. I learned about Twitter while working in the newsroom.
And please stay in contact with me via Twitter, too. You can send me messages or follow my latest posts. (Just search for Jodi Rave). How to get started: Create a Twitter account. And tell your friends to create an account. It’s easy. And it’s a good way to get Indian Country online and connected to folks all over the United States.
Here’s a New York Times article, “Twitter. It’s what you make it.”
For example, check out this Twitter search page and type in whatever subject matter you are interested in. I typed in “American Indian” and came up with some interesting results.
See you on Twitter. Thanks.
Jodi Rave

The SSCRA of 1940 stated Native American Indians serving in the military will be taxed according to their tribal laws and not the laws of the state in which the tribe is located in,.
This law was not enforced and Indian Military members were ilegally taxed up until 2001. This question should be asked by tribal leaders and president obama should enact legislation to repay and compensate all these veterans or their next of kin.
Beautiful site,
I started using Twitter back in November, since then I’ve begun to love it. When I started I hated Twitter it’s allowed me to network with people in my industry alot easier. News and updates happen in right away which makes for a great social communication app.
