Here is a web link update from the folks at Cultural Survival about the language summit held May 11-13 in Washington, D.C.  The event was also sponsored by the National Alliance to Save Native Languages. It was a spectacular event featuring unsung language revitalization heroes from across the country. I will soon post a must-read, how-to-save-your-language document from the National Museum of the American Indian and from the Administration on Native Americans.

  1. Hau Mitakuyapi (Hello My Relatives), I believe, as do many others, that the key to the survival of our Lakota Culture is to preserve the Lakota Language, i.e., “Lakotiya.” It makes me happy and thankful to see the efforts that others are making to ensure that our unique, Indigenous, ways of thinking are preserved for coming generations.
